In the first SOLO Taxonomy lesson, you wrote some impressive paragraphs applying your new knowledge of poetic devices
First, you self assessed to ascertain your prior knowledge of structural and sound devices in poetry, using the SOLO self assessment sheet:
Then you went went to the right section of the classroom. Those of you at the prestructural stage mugged up on your poetic devices from the handy cheat sheets on the first table by the door. The students who went to the unistructural and multistructual stages at the tables in the middle of the classroom found examples of the poetic devices in a poem, and filled them in on SOLO hexagons, where you made links between different ideas at the relational stage at the front of the room. Finally at the extended abstract stage, students wrote paragraphs (on the windows) that displayed your ability to analyse the ways in which the poetic devices support the meaning:
